Pune-based manufacturer BGauss has launched the BGauss C12 MaxR, a new premium family electric scooter. It is priced at Rs 1,45,999 (introductory ex-showroom) and is now the most premium scooter in the brand’s entire lineup. Built on the flexible WSA modular platform, it targets buyers needing generous storage and extended riding range to tackle daily urban commutes.

Powering the C12 MaxR is a 3.8 kWh LFP (Lithium Iron/Ferro Phosphate) battery pack. This IP67-rated unit sits under the floorboard inside a protective aluminium enclosure designed for better thermal management. BGauss claims this setup delivers a certified IDC range of 178 kilometres on a single charge. You also get a 750W charger to replenish the battery, which takes about 5 hours 15 minutes for a full charge, and 80% SoC is achieved in about 4 hours…
BGauss C12 MaxR Motor and Performance
Propulsion comes from the newly developed HyperZen in-wheel motor which integrates the motor, gear transmission, braking hardware, and motor control unit into one compact hub. By using a direct gear transmission instead of a traditional belt or chain, the company significantly reduces power loss and routine maintenance. The motor produces 4.2 kW of peak power, allowing the scooter to reach a top speed of around 75 kmph. It accelerates from zero to 40 kmph in 5.3 seconds, which should be enough for a family scooter Riders can select between Eco, Ride, and Sport modes to choose between speed or efficiency.

BGauss engineered the C12 MaxR heavily around daily utility. The scooter features a 38-litre under-seat storage compartment that accommodates two helmets. Additional practicality comes from a lockable front glovebox, a bottle holder, and a pop-out umbrella holder. The flat floorboard further enhances cargo-carrying capability, which would be helpful in daily errands. Suspension duties are managed by a telescopic front fork and a five-step -preload-adjustable gas-charged rear shock absorber. A ground clearance of 160 mm ensures the vehicle tackles broken city roads comfortably.

The cockpit centres around a 5-inch TFT display, that supports turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts, and multiple display themes. The software is paired with the BGauss connected ecosystem to offer features like vehicle health checks, parental locks, and over-the-air updates. Other key features include DigiLocker connectivity to store important documents digitally, alongside functionalities such as cruise control, a reverse mode, FallSense detection, and wireless mobile charging.
